Update on Food Aid in the Nation of South Sudan
Posted by Ashley Reeves on July 18, 2014

Thank you for your interest in assisting the people of South Sudan with food aid. As we expressed to you in our blog and newsletter articles, the country has been in turmoil for the past six months because of various political issues. While the political situation appears to be settling down, many are still in need of food, clean water, and shelter.

Because of your generosity, we have been able to send funds to our contacts in Bor, South Sudan. Christians there purchased locally available food and distributed it in an effort to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those who were in need after months of conflict in the country.  Chuck Dennis, of the Jonglei Christian Vocational Boarding School, reports, “The idea for a distribution of beans, rice, a mattress, flour, oil, and mosquito netting was organized and executed well by the Christians in Bor.”  He reported the distribution was orderly and went very smoothly. “The distribution took place at our school campus where the church meets, and all those who received help expressed thanks for the [global] church who provided it.”

We were so thankful to be able to partner with Chuck and JCVBS on this project and pray the fruit of our small efforts will be multiplied. We pray for peace in South Sudan and the future of this young nation as they continue on during these hard days, weeks, and months. But most of all, we pray the nation of Sudan will come to know Christ, and that his name will be glorified there.
