Ubuntu! MAGI Exists Because of You

November 2, 2023

HHI’s MAGI program has been delivering joy around the world since 1999, made possible by our generous and faithful donors who have believed in this work since the beginning. Recently, and for the first time in the history of Healing Hands International, 12 members of our United States staff gathered together with 22 members of our International Staff from nine different countries for a conference in Kenya, and MAGI was a highlight of discussions there.

The theme for the conference was Ubuntu, which is an ancient African concept that means, “I am because we are.” It is an understanding and appreciation for each other, a recognition that one’s existence is beautifully woven into another’s. The idea resonates with HHI because so many souls worldwide allow these projects to move forward, all for the glory of God.

For many of HHI’s international staff, the conference prompted their first time leaving their home country. Some earned their inaugural wings, flying for the first time, and many embraced and finally celebrated in person with people they only knew by phone or email… until now! The synergy of the event was palpable, as Kenya united the HHI staff on deeper levels, providing a time for dreaming and fellowship.

Anusha and Prasanthi are a mother-daughter duo from India (pictured above, at the Kenya conference with Mark Jent, HHI’s MAGI Director). Full of dynamic passion and vision, they are successful partners in HHI’s Women of Hope program, and they have implemented the MAGI project with grace and gusto. With plans to carry out a second Sponsor A Box initiative before the end of the calendar year, these women are multiplying blessings in communities that will receive love and basic necessities for proper hygiene, school supplies and clothing.

It was such a joy to gather together with Anusha and Prasanthi, and with so many more incredible humans who have committed their efforts, livelihoods and hearts to the mission of HHI.
