Water For Kisii
Posted by Alisa Van Dyke on August 7, 2018

It has been two years since HHI first met the people of Kisii, Kenya. Their story is a beautiful picture of God's hand at work in the lives of His people. In 2016, Ebenezer Udofia first went into this area to conduct a food sustainability workshop. Approximately 75 people were trained and almost all of them immediately went home and planted gardens. But more importantly, the seed of God's love was planted in the hearts of these special people and many of them obeyed the Gospel and planted a church! (Read the story of Jeremiah, one of the students at this workshop).

In 2017, two female HHI representatives returned to this region to conduct a Christian business women's conference, training more than 100 women! Many of these ladies were able to start their own businesses. One special lady, Naomi, now has a thriving business selling beans to the local schools and with her extra income has even been able to provide for three orphan boys. These boys have since become Christians and active members in the local church!

Earlier this year, our staff visited this region and sat down with the church leaders to discuss their hopes and dreams for the future. Throughout the conversation, one need became abundantly clear...access to clean water. So, with this burden weighing heavily on our hearts, we presented the story of Kisii, Kenya to a group at Lipscomb University's Summer Celebration. The response was overwhelming and within a few short weeks a drilling rig was on its way to Kisii! God is already using this blessing of clean water to open doors for the Gospel to continue to spread in this region. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more stories about the beautiful people of Kisii...
