Healing Hands International was honored to travel to Livonia, Michigan last weekend to celebrate the 2nd annual Walk4Water with Livonia Church of Christ. They began this project a year ago with a dream to raise enough money to drill one well in South Sudan, Africa. Because of their strong commitment and dedication, the church hosted their second Walk4Water this year to cover the rest of the funds needed. Not only did they meet their goal to drill a well for a community in South Sudan, but raised above and beyond their goal!!! They are now close to having enough funds to drill not one but TWO wells for communities in South Sudan, Africa.
The congregation grouped the walk with their annual church picnic – we had over 100 people come out to walk and celebrate. Everyone brought food, we grilled hot-dogs and the kids played Volleyball and Octoball (don’t ask us what that means)! It was such a wonderful afternoon walking for a good cause and spending time with each other.
Special thanks to Jessica Allen and her family for all the hard work and planning that went in to making the walk so successful. Jessica started this dream a year ago and we were so honored to meet her and work with her in putting on this event. Jessica is super creative and had so many fun ideas in getting everyone involved and excited. We cannot wait to be back next year for their 3rd annual Walk4Water! Save the date – September 13th, 2014.
