MAGI/Texas Border Update:
Posted by Ashley Reeves on August 6, 2014

On August 5th 2014, Healing Hands International was informed by the leaders of Catholic Charities and Texas Border Control that the distribution of relief products has been suspended until further notice. A follow-up meeting has been scheduled for early September to assess both the existing and long term needs of those who will remain in the Rio Grande Valley.

In partnership with the 8th and Harrison Church of Christ, it was determined that we would suspend phase one of the distribution, pending the outcome of the September meeting. We will continue to collect all items previously listed and focus our attention on phase two of the distribution plan, which is to distribute the MAGI boxes in December with Craig Cooper and the Pharr Church of Christ North in Pharr, Texas. This plan will include purchasing and handing out Spanish Bibles alongside the leaders of the Iglesia De Cristo in the Pharr and McAllen area.

Our goal is to prepare and transport 5000 MAGI boxes to be distributed in both the Rio Grande Valley area as well as across the Mexico border, as previously planned. Both teams from the 8th & Harrison Church of Christ and Healing Hands International will remain flexible and ready to respond based on the outcome of the September meeting with the Texas authorities, Catholic Charities and the Rio Grande Valley Food Bank.

We thank you again for your interest in helping us with this ministry and we ask for your continued prayers and understanding as we try to help where we are needed the most, while sharing the love of Jesus to those in need.

Please feel free to call me with any questions or concerns at 214-208-9625.
