For the first time since the devastating 2010 earthquake, Haiti held the three-day event known as the "Carnival of Flowers." It was at this event that the AED that Healing Hands delivered to Mrs. Martelly a few weeks ago was put to use. A person at the celebration had a heart attack and was revived by the AED. Harry Hames received a call asking for more pads for the machine making sure it is always ready to be used. He was also told when the President of Haiti travels, the AED machine always goes with him. What wonderful news that our gifts are so well received and appreciated. All glory to God that one life has already been saved!
Healing Hands would also like to thank the Haitian Palace staff for their great assistance in expediting the processing and release of HHI containers of supplies for the people of Haiti. Far too often, shipments we make overseas are very difficult to get out of port. Meaning they may sit there for weeks, even months, before they reach those we are trying to help. We express our sincere gratitude for all the assistance we have received in getting these supplies to those who need it so desperately.
Many of you have been able to meet Marc Fatton from the Sonlight Children's Home. He recently took the SAT with plans to come to the United States and study at Freed-Hardeman University. He was recently granted a visa so he and Roberta Edwards are working to get him enrolled from the spring semester. We pray that God will continue to be with him during this life-changing experience!
HHI and Harry Hames would like to ask for your prayers that God will continue to open doors in Haiti. If you are interested in learning more about the ongoing efforts there, please contact Harry at HHames@hhi.org.
