Clean Water

This is what your generosity looks like

In the remote village of Shiridzinomwa, Zimbabwe, accessing clean water was once a daily struggle. Children and families from Murare Primary School walked 20 minutes each way just to reach a water source—one that often ran dry. But today, that story has changed.

Through HHI’s Clean Water program, a new borewell has been installed on the school grounds, bringing fresh, safe water directly to the heart of the community. HHI Coordinator Brighton Mucherera recently visited Murare and spoke with the school’s headmistress, Constance Manzai, who shared the profound impact this gift has had.

“Since you have helped us with this precious liquid,” she said, “we are able to plant gardens, have flowers, clean toilets, and serve the surrounding four villages. Our kids’ health has improved—especially the younger grades. Our lives have changed for the better.”

The transformation is more than physical—it’s deeply spiritual and emotional. Mrs. Tracy Mademutsa, the District School Inspector, expressed heartfelt gratitude: “We tried for ten years to fund a borehole. God’s time is the right time. Healing Hands was sent to heal us. You have brought greater value to this place.”

Beyond the joy of having clean water, this well has strengthened the bond between the school and its surrounding community. It is a visible sign of love, stewardship, and hope. A local committee has already taken responsibility for maintaining the well, ensuring it continues to serve for years to come.

With clean water now a reality, we look forward to the day when we can also bring our Hunger to Harvest and Women of Hope programs to this community!
