Growth Beyond the Garden

November 12, 2025

A Hunger to Harvest follow-up workshop recently took place in the Chivimbo Cluster Garden, located in Masvingo, Zimbabwe.

These workshops are held some time after the initial gardening training to offer continued support and share maintenance tips. Lessons typically focus on insect, disease, and weed control and prevention, as well as proper harvesting, storage, and food preservation techniques.

Over 60 people attended the original workshop, and more than 70 people came to the follow-up. We’re grateful to see that the first training inspired so many to return and continue learning.

When you get involved with Hunger to Harvest, you make it possible for life-changing skills to be taught by local trainers who understand the unique climate and conditions needed for successful harvests.

Among the 70 attendees, several shared how the training has transformed their lives and communities.

Rosemary, a wife and mother, expressed how her family’s health has improved since the training:

“Our garden is now a nutritional garden. The health of my family is very pleasing. The health of my family has improved.”

Chipo, also a wife and mother, spoke about how their garden has brought both nourishment and opportunity:

“Today we were very pleased with the success of our garden. Our families are benefiting a lot in terms of vegetable production. We are able to sell our vegetables and pay school fees for our children.”

For Nicola, just 19 years old, the impact has been deeply personal. She shared her gratitude for the difference the program has made:

“I want to take this chance to thank Healing Hands International. We have been in a difficult situation as far as vegetables are concerned. We used to buy vegetables, but because of Healing Hands International’s workshops, we are now able to grow enough vegetables for our families, with a surplus to sell. I can foresee a brighter future.”

When you get involved with Hunger to Harvest, you help empower families like these—people who are eager to learn, grow, and build a sustainable future through the power of local training and hands-on support.
