There are many qualities that go into being a great teacher: creativity, flexibility, etc. But perhaps the greatest and most universal quality of a teacher is a servant heart! The HHI staff in Nashville, TN saw this firsthand in an exciting way on Thursday, July 25th when 22 teachers from across the mid south came together at our facility to spend the day preparing teaching materials to be used in the classrooms of Haiti. As most of you know now, the teachers in Haiti have absolutely ZERO resources for creative learning in their classrooms. Now, however, they will have alphabet puzzles, pocket charts, name tiles, musical instruments, and much more!

Each of the teachers that attended the workshop were asked to bring one school supply item as their "admission" for the day. But, we were pleasantly surprised when they began arriving with bags full of school supplies to donate. The teachers who came donated several hundred dollars worth of supplies to benefit the classrooms of the Ganthier school in Haiti! Many of the teachers who came were so excited about the program that they asked when they could come back. Bobbie Solley, education director at HHI is already making plans for future workshops like these. If you or someone you know is an educator or former educator and would like to serve in this way, contact Bobbie Solley for more information today!
