Hope in a Critical Moment
Posted by Cristen Harper on February 22, 2022

In May of 2021, WOH Kenya Coordinator, Jannette, visited the Kapsabet Church of Christ to facilitate a Christian Business Women's Conference for 25 women who worship there. Last month, Jannette went back to visit the women and provide encouragement. It was then that she learned about Margaret and the impact of the previous training on her life.

Margaret came to the conference at a particularly pivotal moment in her life. This mother of 9 used to work picking tea leaves every morning until she developed pneumonia and her doctor recommended she no longer continue picking tea leaves. At the conference, Margaret learned how to make liquid soap and practical business skills. Now, she can work from home without much stress and spend time with her family. Currently, Margaret is saving money to launch an additional poultry business that allows her to continue working from home and take care of her health. Margaret says, "Asante sana (thank you very much) Healing Hands International for the women's training! You have given us a new name!"

Like Margaret, we all face unexpected sickness or circumstances that require us to make a change in our lives. We know that change is a lot easier with a little support. Will you help support and empower women like Margaret with vocational and business skills training?
