Earthquake in Ecuador
Posted by Ashley Reeves on April 22, 2016

Earthquakes continue to rock parts of Ecuador with the most recent being reported at 4:47am April 22nd (this morning) of magnitude 6.0.  The first earthquake of magnitude 7.8 struck on Saturday April 16th. According to the Associated Press, 570 have been killed with more expected to be pulled from the rubble of collapsed buildings. There have been 7,015 injuries reported and there are still 155 people missing. The USGS reports there have been a total of 23 aftershocks.

Healing Hands is responding to this disaster. We have sent 160 water filters to Ecuador with the Sunset Church of Christ in Springfield, MO who has a group traveling down on Saturday. Any funds we are able to raise will go to the relief efforts of Camp Bellevue (directed by Rusty Campbell) and the Quito School of Biblical Studies (directed by Joshua Marcum).  Both works are overseen by the Bellevue Church of Christ in Bellevue, Washington.
