For five years in a row, Healing Hands International consistently received Charity Navigator’s highest four-star rating. This year HHI was given a three-star rating. Why did it change?
In 2005, HHI had a record amount of donations as our donors responded to the tsunami that devastated southeast Asia at the very end of 2004. In 2006, the incoming donations did not reach the levels of 2005 because our donors did not need to respond to a disaster of the magnitude of the tsunami. It is because of this apparent decline in donations that HHI's rating changed from four stars to three stars.
This change in rating has in no way affected HHI's foundational commitment to the wise use of every dollar contributed. Our donors can remain confident that 91 cents of each dollar given goes directly to providing aid for people in need. As always, our financial records are available to answer the questions of any donor.

Charity Navigator is an independent non-profit organization that seeks to help donors make wise contributions. It accomplishes this goal by providing financial information about 4,600 of the nation’s largest charitable organizations and by rating these organizations using objective formulas.
Charity Navigator bases its evaluation of charitable organizations on financial data reported to the IRS. The data for each organization is used to measure performance in two main areas: Organizational Efficiency and Organizational Capacity.
